NHTSA Defect Investigation #PE08026 During the investigation of unexpected closing of the power liftgates in certain Toyota sienna vehicles (EA06-020), ODI conducted a comparative study that included collecting the number of complaints, injuries, and warranty claims related to liftgate strut failures in several non-Toyota model minivans, including the Honda Odyssey.Honda reported 36 complaints and field reports on model year 2005 Honda Odyssey vehicles equipped with power liftgates, three of which indicated an injury.in the same response, Honda also reported 1,413 warranty claims involving liftgate strut replacement.an investigation has been opened to further study the alleged defect in the subject Honda Odyssey vehicles.
